What I can do...

This is going back a couple days when we were still in the hospital and there was very little to do all day except stare at mommy and daddy, but this is a little example showing part of what I still currently do all day...other than this, I enjoy pooping, crying, feeding and bouncing up and down....and of course, I can do it all in the middle of the night. ~Jules

My Grandparents

Thanks to my grandmas and grandpas for coming to visit me in the hospital. Here are some pics of them holding me on my second day in the world - thx so much for all of the warm wishes and coming to meet me! I'll see you all again soon. ~Jules

I love my new playmat!

Here's looking at you Keith, Lena and Jonah! Thanks so much for my new Haba mat - it is really a nice place to hang and helped me fill up a good portion of day 5, esp. while grandma made lunch for mommy and daddy!! German engineering wins again!

I'm home at last!

Mommy and daddy finally took me home yesterday after a lot of poking and proding in the hospital and, man, was I ready to join the world and start giving mom and dad a run for their money....after all, you need to earn my love! Here are a few picks of me leaving the hospital on what turned out to be a day that felt more like July than April since it was 91 degrees. I didnt mind because I was going to my new home and there was a lot to do. Daddy drove and kept his hands on 10 and 2 just to be safe while mommy kept me company in the back seat, nonetheless I felt the need to stay alert. Once home, around 6pm, there was a flurry of activity as mommy and daddy hadn't been home in what seemed like ages and quickly realized they had no idea quite what they were going to do with me!! We all met with a lactation consultant about an hour after ariving home to talk about how mommy can serve my every need and to start making a plan. I've been a little sleepy since birth and need to play catch up, but dont fret, I am doing better with every feeding.

All in all mommy and daddy got the job done on our first night at home, as I'm told they often do, and we had a pretty successful night of feedings, pooping and 1.5 hour "naps." The poop seemed to especially excite daddy b/c poop was another category in which I was a bit behind, so I couldnt wait to show him what I had planned around midnight! He said he never felt so happy to see poop in his life (this is true). In my humble estimation, I am getting stronger and more coordinated each day, and on my fourth day out here and with the food mommy is giving me, how can I go wrong. I think by the weekend we will all really be in the groove. Wish them luck...they're gonna need it. Until then, a quick shout out to some of my baby peeps out there: Norah, Mae, Jonah, Luke, Sienna, Layla, Caitlin, Tyler, Carter, Ryleigh, Cormac, RyanP, RyanC, Sadie, Brooks, Lucy and Cal. And a huge thank you to all of my grandparents who were there to welcome me into the world...I'll be in touch soon.

Love,
Julian Rhys

Fluffy kitty baby seeks uber-cute angel baby for friendship.

Dickens is getting a little old for this! Rudy (or Ruru, Poopoo-head, Bun-buns or Dum-dum as he is affectionately known around here mainly b/c he usually presents with a quantity of poopoo, stuck to his bunbuns, causing a bit of the dumdums) is on the lookout for someone a bit younger, preferrably baby-aged, to play and get in trouble with. At almost one year old now, Ruru is looking to lead the next generation of miscreants towards ulitmate rambunctiousness and and to pass on his savant-like knowledge in the art of staring at, and then chasing, nothing at all. Please help us in wishing Ruru luck in this endeavor...which is to say, keep your fingers cross that this baby comes soon!

Your room sir...

This boy doesn't know what he's missing! Our nursery is up and running here....running at full bore! Well, what else is there to do at this point but nest? Thing is we built the nest almost a month ago now expecting our boy to join us, but he has held out for warmer temps. So all we can at this stage of the game is dot our i's and cross our t's and of course "sleep" ;-).
Hopefully only a day or two left!! Bev (Brenna's mom) came this week and brought us newly made curtains for the nursery and they look awesome....thx Bev!

Still waiting!

Yes, we are....albeit less patiently now :). Our due date came and went in anticlimatic fashion, which was a bit disappointing, but we have to move forward. We had a really nice weekend here - it was sunny and warm and time to get mama out of the house where she has been cooped up all week. So, we took a drive out to the coast for lobster rolls and chowder in Rockport, joking all the way (as we have for almost every meal or activity over the past 2 weeks) that this would be our last weekend alone for quite a while...unless junior decides to go to boarding school for kindergarten or skips right to college.

We are scheduled to go in to the hospital at 4pm on Sunday, so next week is shaping up to be pretty exciting! Cant wait to have some new pics to post up here!

I am also posting a pic of the amazing strawberry tart that Bren made on Easter Sunday - it deserves its moment here.

April is actually here...but baby isn't yet!

Yikes...I just realized that it is April and I have made nary a post on this blog since late Feb! I am hoping to be a bit more diligent in the coming months. Brenna's due date is just two days away, so we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our little guy. It is amazing how time all of a sudden starts to drag. We are trying to be as patient as possible, but not taking this last bit of free time for granted. More soon!
